Regenerative medicine provides answers to previously unsolvable problems. We now have the potential to fully heal damaged joints and tissues for a wide variety of conditions. Our game-changing therapies include Stem cell therapy, PRP therapy, and the Vampire Facelift.
Stem cells are unspecialised cells, meaning that they can transform into any type of specialised cell (for instance, a lung cell or a red blood cell) through a process called differentiation. This property of stem cells has rendered their use in medical treatment a very exciting and promising prospect. Stem cell treatment primarily uses these unspecialised cells to help heal injured or degenerated joints. The procedure is performed by injecting or administering a patient’s ‘activated’ stem cells via IV drip. As the body keeps a steady supply of stem cells available to aid repair and rejuvenation processes, they are relatively easy to extract. Results from previous stem cell treatments clearly establish the benefits of using stem cell therapy, including a decreased amount of inflammation, the healing of damaged cells, and the prevention of further deterioration by promoting active tissue regeneration.
Platelets are tiny blood cells that promote healing by secreting substances known as growth factors, in combination with proteins that stimulate tissue reconstruction. Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP) is used to mend damaged cartilage, tendons, ligaments, muscles, or bone using these inherent healing properties our blood. First, the patient’s blood is taken with a simple blood draw. Using a special centrifuge machine that spins the blood at a high velocity, the growth hormones and platelets are isolated from the rest of the blood, thus creating a high potency PRP fluid. This fluid is then injected directly into the affected area of the patient, and the healing and regeneration of the damaged tissue begins. PRP therapy thus represents a safe and relatively accessible treatment protocol, with many potential applications.
The premise of the Vampire Facial treatment is founded on the principles of Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP): by increasing the platelet and growth factor count, new collagen production takes place. This increase in production of collagen and growth factor volume results in a more youthful, firmer and plumper-appearing facial skin. The procedure itself is relatively straightforward and can be completed in under 60 minutes. Ten to twenty millimetres of blood is extracted from a patient, before being spun in a centrifuge machine to separate the plasma from the red and white blood cells. This concentrated plasma, abundant in platelets and the associated growth factors, is injected directly into the target area of the patient’s skin. An improvement of skin tone and texture is noticeable in as little as three weeks as the skin progressively thickens, smoothing out wrinkles and creases. Symptoms are typically non-existent.
